One of the best days of skiing I had was,y myself, at A-Basin. Conditions were perfect - bright sunshine, clear skies, warm (in the 30s) enough to turn the snow into a creamy texture like frosting or soft butter. No one I knew could come ski, so I went alone.
I was able to ski wherever I pleased. No lift lines - ski on and off, and I rode the lift alone most times. I explored the Montezuma bowl, delighted in perfect snow.
It's hard to believe, after a crowded weekend like the last one, that I had the mountain almost to myself that day.

Rosemary, thanks for checking in! Endorphins can be pretty powerful, for sure. I have had the lovely experiences many times of getting the "runner's high" of a great endorphin rush, though have to say that this time, it was nothing like that. This was a pure, powerful, spiritual experience. I am grateful that I was moving at the time; it gave my body something to do while my mind and soul detached and went elsewhere for a little while. I've had several moments such as this, but never when I was running. Always room for more "firsts" in my life though! :-)

WOW, I guess this is what true runners are talking about when they say the endorphins kick in. To me, this sounds like torture, but I do get it about exercise being the first line of defense in maintaining emotional balance. I get this from yoga and another more aerobic workout that I do, but, for me, running has always been like dragging two heavy telephone poles along instead of legs. Guess that doesn't matter tho--it's getting in the zone that does--

Blog babe here. What a lovely descriptive and honest post. I'm not a runner, more of a walker (bad knee). But just getting outside and breathing the air and moving the blood around does wonders for my attitude. I find the muse loves me more when I am doing something like that. She especially likes vacuuming too. I wish she'd just step up and take over that chore. Then I could get some writing done uninterrupted. Nice blog! Inspiring writing. Keep it up.
