About This Blog
Running has been likened to “moving mediation”. I found that my brain didn’t know when to shut up when I was sitting on a mediation mat but that when I ran, the thoughts that churned through my brain like a caffeinated hamster were able to settle in with the steady pounding of legs and rhythmic movements of a body in motion.
In March of 2008 I began writing about each Saturday morning run to keep me grounded and help me notice what was happening both around me, and internally. After more than a year of writing, my Saturday entries have become a series of essays that combine to form a loose memoir of observations about the weather, my life, friends, spirituality, and all the gook that falls in between. Sometimes the prose is thoughtful; other times it’s downright silly. And then there are the times when my emotions or body are depleted and writing my thoughts becomes a brutally honest form of confession.
